I believe that the internet MIB object identifiers (including the enterprise subtree) are assigned by a legitimate chain of naming authorities descending from ISO. Consequently, these are as "official" and valid as any you could get from ANSI or any other body. The system is in place now. And there is no charge to get a number. --karl--
