Werner Gunther's Fixdisk has fixed this kind of problem for me.  It's
only version 1.0, and hasn't been extensively tested on hard disks, and
it freezes when it's done, but it's fixed my disk twice when the disk
validator failed.  But of course I make a backup first.

Anyone know if there is there a later version of Fixdisk?
