I find it essential because certain Atari programs (apparently including dBMAN) sometimes mangle the directory structure of a hard disk when they crash. SENTRY is very good about rebuilding a mangled directory structure. Michtron also peddles something in their utilities pack and ICD is selling a product called CLEANUP. I have not had any experience with either of these.
