The C64 serial buss is indeed a modified form if the IEEE standard orginally installed on the PET line. Thereisn't any practicle way to share data with an IBM that way. The only way I know of is to connect the C64 User Port via an interface to the RS-232C of the IBM.

Omnitronix, Inc. makes the Deluxe RS-232 Interface. I recommend it as the best on the market.
