The workaround for your B: problem is to use XXFORMAT B:
This will format your disk correctly at 1.44 MB.
I called Norton Computing about this problem around June 1989 and it
looks like they still have not fixed it.  Ypu might give them a call.
If enough people complain they will probably issue a maintenance release
to correct the problem.   Good luck.
