It performs at the same level as the 80286, and you don't see that chip dying away. The 68030 you suggest would drive the cost of the "Low cost" mac up above 2K. How much do you want for nothing? It will cost 25% of what the 128k sold for in 1984 dollars. This is meant to replace the Apple IIgs, the Plus, and part of the SE sales. Do you have the same engine in the Nissan Sentra as you do the Nissan Maxima? Give it a rest! Some people still want Sentras! Let them have a chance at it!
