If you see a small >icon in the upper right hand corner of the menubar, you are running under >MultiFinder. Go to Set Startup in the Special menu of the finder to set it >back to the Finder and reboot. Is this a side-affect of my un-explained desire to upgrade to the new System??? I do not know why I upgrade... I do not notice any quantum leaps in functionality. Sure I get more dialogue boxes and other nice-ities... but I am beginning to wonder if this is all worth the loss of memory that I am experiencing. When I first got my Mac2, I was using the muti-numbered system collectively known as 5.0. Then I could comfortably juggle 3 large apps at one time in 2Meg. Large meaning MS Word, LSC, etc... I do not use anything larger than those. When I went to 6.0 I started having memory problems. I could not keep as many things going as I once could. It varied from 2-3 apps simulataneously. NOW, with 6.0.4 I can only handle one major application at a time! I might as well turn MF off and pick up a little speed if I cannot switch apps. Am I doing soemthing wrong? Do I need to do something else? Should I go back to 5.0? 1/2 :-) Got an extra 4Meg laying around I could use? PS: Lets see less cross-posting between the Macintosh newsgroups. 99% of the MacEnthusiasts read all three anyway...don't you! dk smith ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dks@shumv1.ncsu.edu | ude.uscn.1vmuhs@skd -my opinions reflect my opinions. | .snoinipo ym tcelfer snoinipo ym- ------------------------------------------------------------------------
