Van Jaconson did a fair bit of preformance eval on AMD Lance on his Sun
3/50 and on the Intel 82586 on a Sun 3/280?  when he was doing his tcp
tuning.  He found that he could get 8.9 Mbit/sec throughput on the wire
using tcp on his 3/50 w/ Lance, but the Intel max out at 6.2 Mbits/sec
because it couldn't handle the collissions.
