It seems that the solution to the problem of binding a client to a YP
server NOT on the same broadcast net is an undocumented feature:

	ypbind -ypset

This allows ypbind to accept ypset commands.  Then you following the
ypbind with a 'ypset server_IP_address' in your rc.local file.
