I've heard that there might be interest in a "is this memory location
readable/writable" function ala:

NAME
    probe - probe memory locations
SYNOPSIS
    #include <sys/probe.h>
    bool probe (address, length, mode)
    unknown *address;
    unsigned length;
    TBD mode;
