But, I do believe it is possible for ANYONE to learn regardless of age. I do not wear aids and never turn the sound on of my boob tubes since I use the telecaptioned decoder. In fact, usually tell my friends to adjust the sound for their convenience or either watch the tube in silence with me. Makes one R*E*A*D....and can be FUN! You'd be surprised at what an education that is for hearing people.
