i have been reading figures to the effect that there are 122 unmarried females
per 100 unmarried males in the 20s age range in the US Bureau of Census. In
fact, other US Census stats i've seen indicate that this woman shortage
exists from 18 to at least 35 to 40 age range... Stats Can should not be too
far off, either. So if you guys are finding it hard to get a date, this could
explain a lot of things. Incidentally, US Census data show that women are more
likely to get married than men... true for every age range from 1985 data.
 
Of course, actual "availability" is almost impossible to quantify, as there
are factors such as interest (interest in marriage in general, interest in
specific types of people), also that no census asks if anyone is going steady
as opposed to outright marital status, etc However, it would seem that a
vast majority of women are unavailable or uninterested in the under-40s age
range...
