   Last I heard, the birthrate favored males by around 1% but that males
tended to die at a higher rate, even in the younger ages that are relevant
to this discussion.  So how can there be such a large woman shortage?  Are
men living better and not dying off as fast, or are women so liberated that
they've picked up the same bad habits as men, or both?  Maybe the lot of
them have decided Latins make better lovers and there's a mass emigration
of them to South America.  But, fun aside, what effect(s) are behind this
woman shortage?
