The pre-amp is intended for use in live recording by the School of Music's audio dept. (for which I am an asst. recording engineer), so I'm trying to achieve professional quality. I've seen designs for amps that use IC op-amps and discrete op-amps, but none that don't use op-amps. Can anyone suggest references that will be helpful or provide schematics? I know that Neve used to make a recording console with a discrete class A mic pre and I think Cello makes one now. Niether company has particularly helpful.
