I found out the following: 1) Kent State University directs an organization called The Liquid Crystal Institute. They run a clearinghouse on information about LC, especially the physics behind it. They do also create the crystals and test them. [Thanks to Phyllis Pugh (pcpugh@ucsd.edu) and Dave (cs109d@devon.loud.com)] 2) For Computer Display Technology, I was recommended GE Research & Development where they design high-resolution color LCD displays. The main switchboard phone is 518-385-2211. After that, you're on your own. [Thanks to Dan Esmond (esmond@crd.ge.com)] 3) Several people recommended the Thomas Manufacturing Catalog "The Thomcat". Looking under __Displays, Liquid Crystal__, I found about 2 pages of manufacturers, most of which offer prototyping services. The catalog is available at just about any decent public library in the Reference section. [Thanks to Paul Ganter (peg@ecl.psu.edu), Anna (anna@cs.cslab.uw.edu), and Dave (cs109d@devon.loud.com)] Thanks also to James Dehnert (pa1024@iugrad2.ucsd.edu) and Scott Scheiman (scott@ubvax.ub.com) who offered suggestions. ___Samuel___ _________I_claim_and_accept_sole_responsibility_for_the_above._SjG.____________ | "Evil is at its most spectacular when | it enjoys turning a living soul into (213) 336-3592 (9-5, M-F) | a manipulable object." -- Anthony Burgess
