In case anyone's interested, here's a ROUGH paraphrase of a memo sent to
all Virginia Tech staff and faculty from our sr. Vice-President/Provost:

     Affirmative action at Tech is defined as equal, fair treatment
     of all people for employment or enrollment.  Decisions based on
     sex, race or cultural background, religious affiliation, politi-
     cal orientation, or sexual orientation have no place here or
     anyplace else...

Neat, huh?  Well, it's a start anyway.
