In the NOTIS LIBRARY IMPLEMENTATION MANUAL, v.1, pt. 1, p.C4A.17 in the description of the SECUR statement for authority records, it says "Use the ACU flag if your installation has an authority record file shared among multiple processing units. Use the ACU flag statement for terminal operators in the processing unit designated as the control processing unit." What the manual does NOT say is what the flag actually does? At Buffalo multiple processing units will be sharing an authority record file. Should all staff in the control processing unit be given that flag? If not, what can those with the flag do that those without it cannot do? A related question dealing with authority records. While Central Technical Services in the General Libraries will be the control processing unit for all name authority records and LC subject headings, we have a separate file of MeSH headings for which the Health Sciences Processing Unit will be responsible. How does this division of responsibility affect the ACU flag and/or other parts of the security tables. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me.
