Thanks to Rick Ellis for his tip to me about xon/xoff.  I had
orig. set up the printer as a parallel, but someone else had
switched it to serial.  I havent' yet confirmed that the xon had
not been set in the printer setup withing netgen, but I'm willing
to bet that Rick is right.

This is just one more time that this forum has come to my aid.
