I fail to understand how it's socialism when a bunch of people voluntarily
decide to buy the factory at which they work.  Under the implementations
of socialism most commonly seen, of course, the workers would not have been
allowed to buy the factory....

Perhaps you can explain something to me.  Are those workers entitled to the
ownership of the factory?  Or should the state be able to take away their
ownership?
