If you agree, you can display your feelings at the polls in November by throwing out those legislators who insist on wasting valuable time dealing with such idiocy. Claudine Schneider (currently Congressperson, soon to be running for Senate) tried to shift the responsibility for such nonsense out of the Congress and into a committee (such as the one which decides who gets on postage stamps). She was shot down by some idiot who defended his right to look like an idiot (and said so in almost as many words...) -- but that's on the federal level. Someone should do the same on the state level (move it to committee, that is).
