WordPerfect is available for many different machines. The F7 key is not necessarily the Exit key on every machine. For example, the DEC Rainbow 100s used in a lab on our campus use a Shift-F11 for Exit. Why, I don't know. Basically, WordPerfect Corp. is saying, press the Exit key, which ever key that might be. Since you can redefine your keyboard to have any layout you want, I don't think someone would like to be told to press the F7 key when the Exit key is assigned to the Esc key, for example.
