I've never put a stop watch to it however. The tradeoff is that Quattro Pro can handle much larger files than the original. Couple that with the added capabilities of multiple spreadsheets, font control, advanced graph annotating and I think you have a package which is a major step up from the original (which I thought was great to begin with). There is one immediate probelem. WordPerfect 5.1 does not read Quattro Pro files directly, you have to save them in Lotus format. From what I have read on this list the 1/19 upgrade to WP 5.1 solves this problem. There is a Quattro list running out of Yale but there doesn't seem to be any action on it.
