(I'd rather listen than read about listening). So, I'm posting some. The format is: time, freq, short description. This is just a short list of things I've logged (I type these in for myself) in about three hours over two days in the past week, and mostly I was just scanning a couple meter bands. >From this simple format I can then sort by frequency and time. For example, if my file is called my.log, then sort my.log | uniq > ~/new/sw/my.time sort -n +1 my.log | uniq > ~/new/sw/my.freq (on unix) creates files sorted by time, and frequency (requires some minor post-editing). If we all worked together, we could probably come up with something better, listing begin and end times, broadcast areas, etc. As it is, I still have something that's pretty useful to me. I don't have time to hack out such a thing. Perhaps a friendly program that prompts for various fields, or a gnu mode for such... Or, if you have a favorite station/area, maybe you could put together their schedule? Some people already do this, posting DX shows or the frequencies and times for Radio X. However, I might merge in some others' logs, though I don't have much time for it, and will post the merged lists if you like, though if someone else volunteers that's fine. If you send any, try to follow this format (regexp): ^[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]\t[ 0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]\t.* ie, 4-digit utc time, a tab, a leading space for <10000kHz, a tab, and anything. This insures the above sort's will work. Also, include your location and perhaps what you use to listen (eg, I have a Panasonic rfb-60). I hope some people find this useful, and not too many flame... Corrections/expansions welcome as well. thanks, -todd ps: if you can't for some reason sort these files, I can also send you sorted versions. Specify whether you'd like it by date and/or time. -------------------------------------------------- some abbrevs: nx - news mx - music slov/slav - unknown slavic lang sp - spanish xtian - christian ch - chinese deu - german // - on parallel frequencies dx - `long distance'; ie, SW, or one who listens to such <500 ends before 0500 UTC -400- still broadcasting at 0400 **** Recieved from Pittsburgh, PA (80 W / 40 N) **** using Panasonic RFB-60, no external antenna, **** by Todd Kaufmann. ------------------------------------------------------------------ #L 080 00 W / 40 25 N Date: 6-Feb-90 UTC Freq description 0050 5960 RCI 0050 5975 BBC ``Megamix'' show (Next wk, from NYC) 0050 5995 VoA ``This is America'' (in special English) 0100 7400 CSM 0100 6165 R.Netherlands; 0122: Research File //6020? address: English Section, R.Netherlands, Box 222, 1200 JG Hilverson The Netherlands ->0125. 0130: Dutch; 0330: English 0100 6145 0100 15155 //9745 HCJB 0200 DX Partyline 0100 9745 //15155 HCJB 0200 DX Partyline 0100 5960 //9755 RCI Eng; 0130: French 0100 9755 //5960 RCI Eng; 0130: French 0100 9535 //11845 0100 11845 //9535 0133 17650 //15235 ?Exotic music; Sp. 0133 15235 //17650 ?Exotic music; Sp. 0133 17665 //17690 slovak; contemporary music 0133 17690 //17665 slovak; contemporary music 0133 17720 R.Moscow (?) 0133 17860 Deu. 0133 17867 mx 0138 15130 mx 0138 15170 sp mx trad. <0200 0138 15200 mx rock L? <200 0138 15215 mx L? <200 0141 15250 VoA? <200 0141 15260 //5975 BBC 0141 5975 //15260 BBC 0141 15270 Deu. -215- 0141 15280 mx classical <200 0141 15315 Deu.
