Of course, this remains to be seen. However, given Motorola's track record, I believe they feel they can still deliver the type of performance required from a state-of-the-art microprocessor from the 680x0 CISC base. I know that HP has announced the use of the 040 in one of their workstations, and it almost a sure bet that NeXT will do the same. I would bet that 040 based workstations will be comparable to the Sun 4 machines. I've heard that Motorola is planning an 050 also, so CISC is far from dead.
