LaserGo Inc. has a neat commercial product called GoScript Plus which gives you near-perfect Apple Laserwriter Plus emulation with a wide variety of printers (HP LaserJet, Epson FX dot matrix, and many others). I don't know if the QuietWriter is among the supported printers, but GoScript does very high-quality PostScript emulation; I sometimes will have WordPerfect print a PS file to disk, then run it through GS, and the resulting printout on my HP-compatible laser printer is flawless. You might want to look into this; if the QW is supported, it would be an excellent choice.
