Message-ID: <8001@lindy.Stanford.EDU> Date: 12 Feb 90 18:07:22 GMT Sender: news@lindy.Stanford.EDU (News Service) Distribution: na Lines: 17 I recently transferred a Hayes 2400 Baud modem from a PC to an XT. No problems before; now I often get the modem coming on (opens connection and gets dial tone) within a few seconds of powering on the computer. Rapidly switching power off and back on usually cures this. When it is "off hook" in this way I can't communicate with the modem via AT commands. The modem is on com2 via the switch on the card, com1 is the port on an old AST memory/ port add-in. I assume this is a computer hardware problem since it never happenned before, but I don't know what could be waking up the modem so soon after power on. Anyone encountered this or know a workaround? I don't use it extensively; some routine to reset it would be fine. Thanks, Allen Smith FA.CAS@STANFORD.BITNET FA.CAS@FORSYTHE.STANFORD.EDU decwrl!lindy.stanford.edu!casmith (maybe)
