The search package appears to be built on the assumption that the
 "find next"-like functions will be bound to a single character
  (by default, the same character as the "find"-like functions).
   This elisp reflects the default characters:

	(setq search-repeat-char ?\C-s)
	(setq search-reverse-char ?\C-r)

There is also search-quote-char, which is set to \C-q.
