Although the cartridges were purchased a year apart, their external markings are identical. With the newer cartridge both printers refuse to accept 4 out of 10 characters that I hacked up for downloading (corresponding to symbols not available on the cartridge) although both printers will accept *all* of the characters with the older cartridge. I should say also that the same behavior was also observed in testing the two cartridges on a third LaserJet. Why is this? Have there been any changes at all in the cartridges? Are all of the cartridges produced at the same location? Please respond by email to: wfh58@leah.albany.edu ------------------------------------------------------------------------ William F.
