Message-ID: <9002081826.AA27574@crayola.cs.UMD.EDU> Date: 4 Feb 90 20:41:56 GMT Sender: daemon@ucbvax.BERKELEY.EDU Organization: Public Access Usenet, Brampton, Ontario Lines: 24 Approved: laser-lovers@brillig.umd.edu PC Week magazine had a brief, but front-page article on the planned announcement of the Laserjet III. This printer, supposedly to be pegged at a lower price than the LJII units it's replacing (US list - $2400), is due for release in March. The article didn't say much, except that: - It takes the same toner carts as the II/IID; - It will contain a noticably-expanded graphics language; - There will be 30 built-in fonts, some of them scalable; - engine speed is claimed at 8 pages per minute; - res is still 300dpi, but said to be sharper than the present LJ; With new graphics features and scaled fonts, I wonld think twice before running to put in a Postscript cartridge. This may be enough for most desktop publishing needs all by itself... Does anyone have any more information than PC Week had? -- The Northwest Territories: | Evan Leibovitch, Sound Software Where men are men, women | Located in beautiful Brampton, Ontario are scarce, and caribou are | evan@telly.on.ca / uunet!attcan!telly!evan very careful how they walk. | (416) 452-0504
