The symptom you describe sounds like a case of a pen (i.e. ink cartridge) running out of ink. Have you tried a new pen? I know this may seem too obvious, but I have to ask :-). Have you tried to prime the pen? If this doesn't help or only helps temporarily, read on ... Although there hasn't been a recall, there is a user installable service station upgrade that reduces the instance of certain pen problems/failure modes. The upgrade (or fix) is free. The printers we are currently manufacturing has this improved service station. Depending on when you got your printer, you may already have this improvement, but I don't know serial numbers and so forth. The symptom you describe doesn't sound quite like the problem addressed by the upgrade, but it could be. To order your "Print Cartridge Station Upgrade Kit" (P/N:02276-67801) call (503) 757-2002.
