I am running K*Star 7.0U on the KFPS-2U and use a static address.
I have not experienced a freeze-up in the few days since switching to
the non MacTCP version of TCP/Connect, though I had one instance 
when it started to behave somewhat erratically and then quit
"unexpectedly (1)."
