They should be even more collector-worthy, given that Commodore is continually offering incentives to pull more and more of them out of service. According to the message I read here that was written by Greg Tibbs, the Rejuvinator card will have an A500/2000 compatible ROM socket as well as offering ECS. $499 for upgrading with Rejuvinator is much cheaper than Commodore's A2000 upgrade. Note that I am not flaming Commodore -- they are doing a wonderful thing for us A1000 owners by offering the upgrade. I would be most happy if I wanted to move to an A2000.
