Message-ID: <13818@phoenix.Princeton.EDU> Date: 12 Feb 90 22:00:59 GMT Reply-To: mplevine@phoenix.Princeton.EDU (Marshall P. Levine) Organization: Computer Science Department, Princeton University Lines: 13 I have an amiga 2000 with 3 megs of ram. I noticed that after using the machine for a long while, the "Largest" column in avail shrinks drastically (after running many large programs). I think that the memory freed up by these large programs is returned to the system in the form of fragmented blocks. This causes problems when I try to run a program that requires large chunks of memory after my memory has been fragmented. I have an old version of sweep that does not seem to do anything. Are there any programs (like a new version of sweep) that will unfragment all of my memory? Thanks in advance. -- Marshall Levine mplevine@phoenix.princeton.edu
