Since I didn't have the income at the time to purchase a new monitor, I decided to use the 1702 monitor from my c64. I found out, surprisingly enough, that if I plugged the composite cable into the front of the monitor, the colors would be beautiful, but the resolution lacked a bunch. When I plugged the composite cable into the back of the 1702 monitor (in the luma slot) and turned up the color to the maximum level, I got extreme resolution (well, the best possible with this monitor) and the colors were less intense. certain color combos would cause a wavy line to appear, but I worked around that problem by using neutral color combos (equal levels of RGB). I have been using 80 columns with this monitor since 1986 with the amiga and still find it very readable (even though when I upgrade to a newer system, I will love to get a new monitor...). I hope this little bit of info helps.... Hans Bechtel >>>>>>>> Amiga 1000 owner, February 1986 <<<<<<<<< Become a Home Shopper! Email hansb@ariel.unm.edu for details
