We have a Racal-Vadic PA2400 modem which was working under SR9.7 with siologin. If I try to dial into the modem with the node running SR10.2 and /etc/getty, the phone rings once, the modem seems to pick up the line (no carrier tone), and then it seems to hangup! I have tried using both /dev/tty01 and /dev/sio1 without success; but if I kill getty and run /com/emt on the line the modem will answer the phone, give a carrier, and connect to the modem which I dialed in from. Our current modem cable was made back in the dark ages (SR8.0), and my guess is that getty doesn't like it. -- David Krowitz krowitz@richter.mit.edu (18.83.0.109) krowitz%richter.mit.edu@eddie.mit.edu krowitz%richter.mit.edu@mitvma.bitnet (in order of decreasing preference)
