Message-ID: <682@tci.bell-atl.com> Date: 12 Feb 90 20:29:05 GMT Distribution: comp Organization: Technology Concepts, Inc. Sudbury Mass. Lines: 37 Hello IIGSers, BACKGROUND: My cousin-in-law, who is 12 years old, is the proud owner of a IIGS for the past three years or so. The first year: it sat in a box. The second year: the power switch was turned on once or twice. This year: I finally recommended some "good" software for him to use. I'm a Mac person, not a IIGS person, but I'm trying. PROBLEMS: [1] I don't think he ever mailed in his registration/ownership card. Does Apple send out free ROM upgrades? (I know Apple doesn't handout free anything, but ... :) [2] I've never looked inside the IIGS box, but what do I look for when I want to see what version ROM he has? (I believe he has the original ROM v1.0 or something.) [3] I believe he has something called a "super serial card" which is used (I think) for the monitor. Can someone shed light here? [4] How can I find out how much memory he has? Is this related to the "super serial card?" Does memory plug in like the Macs do (ie. DIP SIMMS)?l CLOSING: Thanks in advance!!!! -- Rob Mitchell Technology Concepts Inc. Sudbury, MA. 01776 (508) 443-7311 ...!uunet!tci!mitchell mitchell@tci.bell-atl.com Steep and Deep ...
