In fact, the fact that it is SSC compatible is the reason I bought it -- I use it daily for banking at home via modem and while the bank supports the Apple II line, it does not have GS support and does NOT support the built-in com port. I also have battlechess and although I have not tried communicating with it, I believe the manual indicated that it ONLY SUPPORTS 300 BAUD. Check the manual -- if this is true, make sure you set the Datalink to 300 baud.
