This may be due to oxidation on the pins of the 8088. The MOSTEK version of the 8088 had silver plated pins. Over a long period, oxidation will build up and cause high resistance contact and will cause just such erractic behavior. I have had to do this 2-3 times to my RB over it's 7 year life. Just carefully remove the 8088 and use a green eraser to clean the pins on the chip and reinsert. If you are using a V20 you wont have this problem. I live on the Gulf Coast so I do not worry about static electricity but, if you live where there is low humidity just keep yourself grounded to the RB while you are cleaning the chip. If there are any other MOSTEK devices plugged in your motherboard, clean them as well. Hope this helps, I know it really buggs you trying to find the cause. I found out because my son was selling semi-conductor devices for TI at the time. GOOD LUCK. --- ConfMail V3.31 * Origin: The Pot of Gold - (703-359-6549) (1:109/103) ------------------------------
