I used Disk Technician Advanced, by Prime Solutions, and after a few weeks or repeatedly running it overnight (the manual has a bunch of suggestions on how to recover from such things), it found and locked out all of the bad spots caused by the surge (I assume that the head contacted the media in a couple of spots). Anyway, it worked for me, and it did recover several files that were previously inaccessible (the whole DISK was inaccessible when I started). Good Luck! Clay Jackson
