The HP computer is a timeshare that I cannot touch. The Sun 3/80 can be configured as necessary. The modem is a Robotics Courier 2400. What I've already tried: ------------------------ The modem is already set up and working for Sun-to-Sun communication. I tried to add the HP host by putting its hostname in the /etc/remote file on the Sun 3/80 then using tip to the HP host (as for Sun-to-Sun dialup). The call was placed and picked up but the remote prompt was unreadable (control characters embedded, no words). Then the session hung. Even after I powered off then back on the modem, the session remained hung. Subsequent attempts to dialup with "tip " resulted in the error: all ports are busy. What the HP expects: -------------------- The HP host expects the following point to point datacomm configuration: 2400 or 1200 baud asterisk off recv pace none Xmit pace none parity/data bits none/8 chk parity no enq ack yes sr(ch) lo cs(cb) xmit no Note: This has been cross-posted to comp.sys.hp.
