Can anyone shed light on the following?

I have an application consisting of a frame containing a canvas and a
panel containing panel buttons.  If "blink-caret" is set to true (through
defaultsedit), and this application is run, whenever a button is clicked
on, the window disappears and the message '**** alarm' shows up in the
shell that the program was invoked from.

We are running SunOs 3, on a 68020.  The program works fine with blinking
carets on the SparcStation running SunOs 4.
