I need the macro 'thebibliography' of Latex to print out 'REFERENCES'
instead of 'References'. 

Also, I need running heads but without page numbers. 
I could do this except that I failed to eliminate the page number for 
the first page containing the paper title.

Does anyone know how to do these?
