I have recently acquired an NCR Tower 32/700, their new 30Mhz 68030 machine. It runs System V, R 3.2. I'm trying to build gnuemacs for them. I've sucessfully done so for 18.53 on AT&T 3B2/600s running SVR3.2.1 with no problems. I've got the 18.55 source from the Uunet archives. After farting around for a while, replacing the include for sioctl.h with streams.h and ptem.h in sysdep.c, and commenting out the calls to fchmod in filelock.c, I got the system to compile. The problem manifests itself when the makefile tries to run temacs for the first time, when building the new version number. All I get is a memory fault and a core. I haven't been able to figure out yet why this is. It may be that m-tower32.h is not right for this hardware platform. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments? Please send email, since I read this newsgroup infrequestly, but in bulk, and I don't want to lose any tidbits to article expiration. If anyone really gives a rip, I can summarize and repost.
