I'm happy to get all of the bit.* groups, subject to the constraint that the Message-ID: information *must* but properly handled at all of the gateway points. The consequences of doing this wrong are disruption of service either on bit.* groups or in comp.* groups depending on what gets where first. Another problem with the gatewaying as it's set up now is that there doesn't seem to be a current list of all of the bit groups, information on them, and where messages to the group need to be sent to. This is a particular problem because the groups are marked as moderated on the news side & so articles get mailed off to the usenet "backbone" by default -- a backbone that doesn't know how to deal with them. --Ed Edward Vielmetti, U of Michigan math dept.
