   I am from Australia, and I have seen some of the "Elitism" in the
deaf community as well. These "Elite" are everywhere, in every
community, in every sub culture. These people are usually the ones
that have been around the longest, the ones that come from the oldest
and most established family, the ones that have the greatest claim to
the distinguishment that makes that group different from the rest of
everyone else.
   And to be brutally honest - these people like being the Elite,
whether its a fishpond, or a sea. They will do just about anything to
remain in that position - whether it is being rude to "outsiders" or
proving over and over again, their "specialness".
