That seems a bit draconian, especially since I'm an undergrad myself.
Perhaps a better solution would be to restrict postings until a user
has read news for a month. It is quite probable (as it was in my
case) that most inappropriate postings are a result of inexperience,
rather than bad intent. There are always exceptions, but if we
had no newcomers, the signal to noise ratio would go down, would it
not?
