William Wells): Let's put it this way: both of the posted answers I've seen are wrong. Neither deals correctly with rm's options. And neither deals properly with duplicate file names. So? Because some people give wrong information that makes it a wizard level question? The problem is not a simple one. Not a *hard* one, but one that is worthy of a little discussion. Accordingly, it would not be out of place on comp.unix.wizards. Yes, it would be out of place on comp.unix.wizards. The wizards are sick and tired of it. The wizard wannabes are sick and tired of it. The wizard willneverbes (but they read the group anyway) are too clueless to to be sick and tired of it except for those who have been around for at least six months or more. The recent discussions on comp.unix.wizards are far better than is often found there, even with the occasionaly bickering that naturally comes up when the Old Guard is confronted with what they perceive to be assualts on the purity of UNIX. Please, in some groups it is especially more important that you wait for a long while to get the feel of the group and what is and isn't appropriate for it. Comp.unix.wizards is one of those groups.
