I started to and then I met the CODEC. CODEC's are designed just to COde and DECode audio to digital (for ISDN). If you want a chip with memory also, keep looking. I saw a complete module in an IC Masters catalog - said it was for toys, etc. which needed audio record and playback. Audio record/playback is a handy thing to have around.
