PKZIP is possibly the best shareware program that I have ever seen.  The
compression is much, much better than ZOO.  Since there is now available
a PD unZIPer for Unix machines, I vote for ZIP.  The complete ZIP utility
will probably be available within a year or two.

As for xx vs. uu, uu is less trouble for most people because it is widely
available, but xx should work just as well.
