It did seem to me that the CALL..RET system would be fastest, and take 1 more byte per word. However, it (my application) has plenty of memory, but has to do some real time processing of speech signals, so speed is of the essence. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. As to JFORTH, I assume this is a commercial Forth and since I have neither an Amiga, nor a knowledge of 68K assembler, I'm afraid I can't follow up on that one...thank you for suggesting it though. Perhaps if you get a chance, you could describe a bit of how they implement modularity, I am sure it would be very interesting.
